The 2010 Dawson City International Gold Show served as the backdrop for the Klondike Placer Miners’ Association’s (KPMA) distribution of a safety manual for use by the placer mining industry.
The manual – created by the KPMA in partnership with the Yukon Mine Training Association and Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board - provides placer mine operators with a tool to ensure that they are communicating to their employees and practising safe work practices on their job sites.
The document is designed to be easily adaptable to each placer mining operation – regardless of its size or number of employees.
“For our members, the safety of their workers and their families is the primary concern,” said KPMA Director Lil Grubach-Hambrook.
